That is usually a lint blockage that has been building for years. The U.S. Fire Administration reports roughly 2,900 home clothes dryer fires a year, and failure to clean is the leading cause. Long before that, a clogged vent shows up as clothes that need two cycles, a hot laundry room, and a higher power bill.
Air ducts are the same story on a slower clock. Construction dust, drywall, pet hair and pollen settle in the trunk lines and get pushed back into the house every time the system runs. If your home is new, was recently renovated, or you have never had the ducts cleaned, there is something in there.
We will tell you if you do not need the work. If your vent was cleaned last year and airflow is fine, that is what we will say.
